Attorney Daniel W. O'Malley grew up in Quincy, Massachusetts. He graduated from North Quincy High School in 1972, University of Massachusetts/Boston (B.A. English) in 1980, and Suffolk University School of Law (Juris Doctor) in 1985.

On June 12, 1986, Attorney O'Malley was admitted to the Bar of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. On November 25, 1986, he was admitted to the Bar of the United States District Court for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. On December 1, 1986, he was admitted to the Bar of the First Circuit Court of Appeals. On February 3, 1987, he was admitted to the Bar of the United States Tax Court.

Attorney O'Malley worked for a general practice law firm in Milton, Massachusetts following his graduation from law school in 1985 to January of 1987 when he and a Suffolk University Law School classmate established the entity known as Romagna and O'Malley, Attorneys At Law. Attorney O'Malley engaged in the general practice of law in offices in Cambridge, Massachusetts from January 1987 through the summer of 1992 with a concentration in litigation.

In the fall of 1992, Attorney O'Malley relocated his office to Quincy, Massachusetts where he continued his law practice of criminal, personal injury, and business litigation.

On October 28, 1998, Attorney O'Malley was sworn-in as an Associate Justice of the District Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. From October 29, 1998 through July 1, 2004, Judge O'Malley presided over criminal and/or civil sessions in the following District Courts:

As well, Judge O'Malley, via special assignment, presided over trial of a youthful offender rape case arising out of the Barnstable County Juvenile Court and an inquest into the death of a police officer, which inquest was conducted in the Barnstable District Court. Finally, during his tenure on the bench, Judge O'Malley presided over mental health hearings at Bridgewater State Hospital and Taunton State Hospital. Between his time as a Judge and as a practicing attorney, Mr. O'Malley has been involved in approximately one thousand trials.

Judge O'Malley participated as an instructor and/or panelist in several educational programs for Judges on behalf of the Education Committee of the District Court and/or the Judicial Institute including lecturing Judges on OUI law/OUI trials in 2003. Further, as a Judge and as an attorney, Mr. O'Malley has lectured attorneys at MCLE seminars on OUI law and OUI trial techniques, and he co-wrote a portion of a two volume MCLE publication entitled, "Trying OUI Cases in Massachusetts". As well, Judge O'Malley taught nineteen (19) courses at Western New England College or Curry College including Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Constitutional Law, Ethical Decision Making, and Sports Law. Finally, Judge O'Malley served as a member of the Criminal Proceedings Committee of the District Court, working with select fellow Judges, clerks of court, and probation officers on all aspects of criminal law in the District Court including developing new jury instructions, model colloquies, and educational materials for Judges. Attorney O'Malley continues to make himself available as an instructor or consultant to attorneys on various topics at bar association(s) and/or bar organization(s) seminars, predominately in the area of criminal law practice.

On July 1, 2004, Judge O'Malley resigned from the Bench and, on July 2, 2004, Attorney O'Malley resumed the practice of law, in Boston from July 2, 2004 to September 19, 2005, and from September 19, 2005 to the present at 1266 Furnace Brook Parkway, Quincy, Massachusetts. A member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Quincy Bar Association, the Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the National College for DUI Defense, Attorney O'Malley has handled and continues to accept cases in every part of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, representing primarily individuals and/or companies charged with crimes as well as injured persons.
